Using web-based software to create a controls specification
Keeping points lists, schematics, sequences of operations and spec language in synch as project needs evolve is a challenge.  The cost of not doing so can be high.  Come explore a free tool that lets you do what you do best – make decisions about what you need – while handling the “i” dotting and “t” crossing for you programmatically and automatically.

11:45am – 1:00pm Lunch and Main Session

Controls Specification 101

You get what you ask for, right?  But with a controls specification, it’s easy to ask for something you don’t really want.  Weak specifications create problems on a project (you may have even experienced some). Unclear or unrealistic owner expectations – with or without weak specifications – are a recipe for disappointment. To get what the owner really wants, you need to make sure his expectation is realistic, and you need to know how to ask for a system that will meet that expectation.  And there are tools to help you do just that!

Chariti Young- Chariti Young holds a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University. After working for the Department of Defense and then in facilities engineering, she subsequently found employment in Automated Logic’s application engineering group and spent several years helping to lay the groundwork for a controls specification tool built around ASHRAE Guideline 13. She currently serves Automated Logic as a customer advocate in the product development process. Chariti has participated on ASHRAE’s TC 1.4 (Control Theory and Application) and SGPC 13 (Specifying Building Automation Systems, formerly Specifying DDC Systems) since 2000 and is currently a voting member of TC 1.4 and the SGPC 13 committee chair.
