Dear Chapter Members,
I hope this note finds you well.
The Board wanted to send out an update on where everything stands with the Chapter. We know the last few months have been abnormal to say the least, but the Board of Governors and Committee Chairmen have been meeting regularly on Zoom to be sure Chapter Business keeps moving forward. Here are some highlights from the last couple months:
- March Tour Night at the Enterprise Center was Cancelled due to CV-19. We were really looking forward to this, but we have told them that we would like to reschedule for next March, and hope to make that happen.
- April Awards Night was also postponed, and we are looking at potentially holding this in the fall in lieu of having our normal speaker. More details to follow later this summer.
- We are not sure just yet on the plan for Chapter Meetings this fall. The first scheduled meeting of the year is scheduled for August and is the usual joint ASHRAE-USGBC Meeting. We will be monitoring the situation this summer while discussing with USGBC, and will have more info out to you by late July on this.
- The ASHRAE Scholarship Spring Golf Tourny was pushed to the Fall….more details out soon.
- The ASHRAE Product Directory is LIVE on the Chapter Website. Please visit ASHRAE-STL.org to check it out. We are working on getting some copies printed as well, and will update you on that soon.
- We will be sending out the nominations for the 2020-2021 Board to the chapter in June. Please look for that, and as always let us know if you are someone you know is interested in getting involved with a committee.
- We normally announce the Scholarship winners at the April Awards Banquet, but due to that being postponed, we thought it best to let these students know now instead of later this fall. We have attached this announcement with details on each recipient. Congratulations to them!!
- The Region 6 CRC in Peoria has been moved from May to October 25th-27th.
- 2020 ASHRAE Virtual Conference Registration now open at https://www.ashrae.org/conferences/ashrae-2020-virtual-conference. Access to 92 technical programs $99 for members, $329 for non-members and includes 1 yr. ASHRAE membership. Company packages also available. On demand access starts 6/22. Live presentations start on 6/29. Committee meeting schedule also posted. These business and technical meetings are open to all ASHRAE members and conference registrants. Eligible parties are encouraged to attend any of these meetings in which they are interested.
- If there is someone you know that you would like to nominate as an ASHRAE Fellow, please reach out to Stephen Duda (sduda@rossbar.com). ASHRAE Fellows have attained distinction in HVAC&R through invention, research, teaching, design, original work, or as an engineering executive on projects of unusual or important scope. The individual must have made substantial contributions and have been a full grade member in good standing for at least ten years prior to nomination.
- Deadline for making donations towards the ASHRAE Research Promotion 2019-2020 Campaign is 6/8/2020. Please remember to note you are from the STL Chapter, so we get credit for the donation. CLICK HERE TO DONATE TO RP
- Recently the City of STL has passed a Building Energy Performance Standard Ordinance. The ASHRAE Region 6 Government Affairs Committee will be reaching out to the city encouraging them to use ASHRAE resources such as ASHRAE 90.1 and Building EQ.
