DESCRIPTION OF PRESENTATION (Tech Session)
The Department of Energy’s 2017 energy efficiency regulations on Commercial Refrigeration Equipment and Walk-in Coolers and Freezers go into effect in less than two and a half years. This discussion will cover the basics of the 2017 standards and how they may affect equipment manufacturers, end users, contractors and application engineers.
John Withouse BIO
John Withouse is a mechanical engineer with 20+ years of experience in HVACR. He spent 15 years with the Hussmann Corporation in the role of new product development, focusing on refrigeration, air, and structural systems for supermarket merchandisers and later working with compressors and multiplexed refrigeration systems. John joined Sporlan Division of Parker Hannifin in Washington, MO in 2008, and is currently a Senior Principal Engineer serving as a technical lead for refrigerants across Parker’s RAC Platform–including Sporlan, Refrigerating Specialties, Precision Cooling, and RACE in Europe. DESCRIPTION OF PRESENTATION (Main Presentation)
The direct expansion refrigerant landscape is continually changing due to current legislation and possible future legislation. The presentation will look at the driving factors for change, as well as, regulatory action on refrigerants. Alternative refrigerants, including low GWP HFCs, natural refrigerants, and HFO based blends, will be discussed.
