Letter from the President

Happy New Year Everyone!!

I hope everyone had a blessed Holiday Season and enjoyed a little time off with your family.  Perhaps you enjoyed a little too much and now you need some time off FROM your family!!!

It’s the time of the year where we switch up our meeting time so don’t forget we will now be meeting in the evenings.  Yes we are going to hand out two drink tickets to everyone again this year at the meetings.  Speaking of meetings a big shout out to Grant Irvine our Programs Chair on a great first half of the year.  We have had lots of positive feedback on the speakers and our attendance has been over 100 attendees consistently at the meetings.

Don’t forget the Annual Winter Meeting and Expo is coming up at the end of the month in LAS VEGAS which is always a good time.  I hope to see many familiar faces there.  I want to take care of some official business really quick.  Jim Rosick – the board has received and reviewed your request and I must inform you that the BOG has determined that we will not be reimbursing you for front row tickets and back stage passes to the Britney Spears concert.  While we appreciate all you have done for the chapter we just don’t feel this is a proper use of chapter funds!!!

CRC 2017 is just around the corner and Brian Ingenthron and his committee are in full swing making sure all the parts and pieces are in place to make this a successful event.  Stay tuned for additional updates on CRC 2017.

I am happy to announce that Zach Melber will be taking over the duties as the Student Activities chair.  As mentioned in our last chapter meeting our previous chair Danny McGrail has accepted a new position in Kansas City.  We thank Danny and wish him nothing but the best!

PE Refresher Course

Are you or a colleague preparing to take the PE exam next spring? If so, consider taking the Professional Engineer Refresher Course, organized by MSPE, ASCE, and the St. Charles County Community College. The mechanical course is taught by ASHRAE member Al Black.

Technology Awards

It’s that time of year to start thinking about submitting a project for the 2017 Technology Awards.  Projects can be submitted for the following building types:  Commercial, Institutional, Health Care, Industrial, Public Assembly, or Residential.  The project can be a new construction, existing building retrofit, or retro-commissioning.

The requirements are simple:  you must be an ASHRAE member to submit and projects need to be substantially complete but do not need to be in operation for 1 year (though that will be required to compete past the Chapter level).  Projects are then judged on energy efficiency, indoor air quality, innovation, cost effectiveness, operation and maintenance, and environmental impact.
