The student chapters in the St. Louis region are starting the year off strong with design competitions, plant and building tours, and membership recruitment. Contact Danny McGrail if you’d like to volunteer as a speaker for a student chapter meeting!

SIU-E: The student branch is organizing a team for the ASHRAE Student Design Competition. It is also planning a fundraiser for possible trips to a thermal and nuclear power plant and the ASHRAE Summer or Winter Conferences.

SIU-C: The chapter recently elected new officers. They added a 2nd Vice Present as the current President, Vice President, and Secretary are all seniors.

Missouri S&T: The chapter recently toured Toomey Hall’s mechanical rooms and the new geothermal plant. Environmental Control’s Professor and Vice President at Cannon Design, Gerald Williams, designed the mechanical system for Toomey Hall and led the tour. Nearly thirty students attended the tour, which is double the typical meeting attendance.  The student chapter is exploring speakers for their November meeting.

Mizzou: The recently established chapter is busy recruiting new members and organizing the logistics of a newly formed chapter (tax exempt status, bank account, etc.).  The chapter is planning tours of Mizzou’s power plant and East Campus Chiller Plant.
