Hundreds of ASHRAE members and HVAC&R industry professionals converged on Atlanta, GA this past June for the Annual Summer Meeting. Each day involved numerous technical sessions on the various tracks of interest as well as Technical Committee meetings, Board meetings, and social events.
The Plenary Session kicked off the conference with keynote speaker, Gene Kranz, Apollo 13 NASA Flight Director, who told the harrowing story of the nearly catastrophic Apollo 13 manned mission to the moon. Later that night, the Welcome Party introduced conference attendees to the College Football Hall of Fame, where drinks, appetizers, and socializing was enjoyed by all.
Sunday included Technical Sessions and Technical Committee meetings, as well as a Young Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA) Hospitality Suite. Region VI was well-represented at the Region V/VI Dinner Sunday night at Pittypaty’s Porch, where plentiful ribs and good home cooking-style plates were served. Tuesday’s Members’ Night Out theme was beach party and live music was performed by the Band of Oz. Members danced the night away after a delicious dinner.
