Speaking at this year’s event are Burton Heller of the University of Missouri, Randy Hassler of McClure Engineering, and Jim Packard of Missouri University of Science & Technology. See their Bio’s below and be sure to register to hear their insight into district energy systems at higher education campuses.
- Mr. Heller has over 15 years of experience in the design, operation, and installation of building and chiller plant mechanical & automation systems. For the last 11 years his primary focus has been district cooling operations and expansion including innovative control strategies of a distributed hybrid system. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Missouri and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri.
- Mr. Hassler joined McClure Engineering Associates in 1994. The majority of his 20 year career has been providing planning and implementation for Central Plants and Utility Infrastructure with the goals of simplifying operations, improving efficiency, improving reliability, and providing expansion for campus/facility growth. He has worked on utility infrastructure and central plant projects for Washington University in St. Louis, Southern Illinois Healthcare, Missouri State Capitol Complex in Jefferson City, MO, and Monsanto World Headquarters campus in Creve Couer, MO. Hassler earned a bachelor’s degree in 1992 from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri. He is also a USGBC LEED Accredited Professional.
- Mr. Packard serves as the Director of Facilities Operations for Missouri S&T, and has been at the university since 1989. He serves on the Campus Strategic Sustainability Planning Committee and the Environmental Management System subcommittee. He is a member and past president of the Rolla Optimist Club, and serves on the Rolla Public Schools Board of Education.Before to joining S&T, Packard worked for 12 years for McNally Pittsburg, Inc, a company which provided products, equipment and turnkey systems for material handling and coal preparation projects.Packard earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan. He is a registered professional engineer in the states of Missouri and Kansas.
