It is with great sadness I announce William J. Barbier passed away 4/20/2014.

Mr. Barbier was Past President of the St. Louis ASHRAE Chapter 1974-75. He was a Life Member and an ASHRAE Fellow.

Barbier, William Joseph 5/22/1931-4/20/2014, was granted eternal rest surrounded by family at home on Easter Sunday 2014. Loving Husband of Shirley Barbier (nee Kruse) for 62 years; beloved son of the late Helen and William Barbier; devoted father of Steve (Jessie), Diane (Randy), JoAnn (Stewart), Pat (Brian), and Jean (Bill); cherished Grandfather of Liz, Sarah, Wil, Luke, Charlie, Kellie, and Danny; dear brother of the late Mary Lamzik and Caroline Barbier. In 1954 he graduated from the University of Missouri School of Mines in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He had an inventive mind that never stopped exploring new ideas. Holder of 35 patents, he worked as a chief engineer until he founded ConceptTechnology Inc in 1981 where he served as owner and President until the age of 80. He was a member of RSES, AMAE and Toastmasters, as well as Fellow, life time member and past president of the ASHRAE organization. Bill was a gentle soul, lover of books and ideas with a strong determination to learn and succeed. He cherished his family and friends who will always remember his positive attitude and ever present smile. Services: A memorial mass will take place Friday, May 2nd, 1:30pm at St. Francis Xavier Church (College Church @ Grand & Lindell), followed by a Celebration of Bill’s life at The Rose of the Hill (2300 Edwards St). Bill donated his body to the SLU School of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Miner Alumni Assoc. c/o of Barbier Scholarship Fund, 1200 N. Pine, Rolla, MO 65409.
