Topic: The CO2 Answer in Six Easy Steps

Ted will work through the article, “The CO2 Problem in Six Easy Steps,” with these learning objectives:

  • Use radiative forcing and climate sensitivity to calculate how the environment reacts to change (4, 5, 6 )
  • Describe how greenhouse gases affect surface temperature and the effect of changing the greenhouse gas effectiveness (1)
  • Understand how spectroscopy measures the radiative transfer absorbed by trace greenhouse gases (2)
  • Demonstrate the context of industrial age concentrations of trace greenhouse gases (3)

Speaker: Theodore B. Reinhart, PE

A mechanical engineer with more than 40 years of experience, Ted has spent time as a Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Director of Utility Market Analysis and Development, and is now the sole proprietor of Energy-PE, LLC. We are honored to have Ted present at this year’s Past Presidents meeting as he was the ASHRAE St. Louis Chapter President from 2000 – 2001. Ted has contributed at a national ASHRAE level by being on the Technical Committee 6.08 since 2017 and a contributor to the 2023 ASHRAE Handbook, HVAC Applications, Chapter 35, “Ground Source Heat Pumps and Geothermal Energy.” Ted is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois and Missouri.
