Designing a Radiant Cooling Systems from Concept to
Completion – A Step-by-step Approach.
The interest in radiant cooling systems in North America continues to
grow as more and more case studies demonstrating the effective use of this strategy gain attention in publications such as the ASHRAE Journal and High Performance Building magazine. While engineers, contractors, and building owners seem intrigued by the concept, many are hesitant to incorporate radiant cooling into their design due to a lack of experience and understanding. The goal of this technical session is to de‐mystify radiant cooling system design by going through a step‐by‐step process of how to effectively and efficiently size and layout a system.
Lunch and Main Session
Using Embedded Tube Radiant Cooling Systems to Maximize
Energy Efficiency.
As more and more jurisdictions and building owners are requiring higher levels of LEED certification for their projects, design teams are looking beyond traditional HVAC solutions to provide the energy efficiency needed to maximize LEED points while maintaining occupant comfort and safety. In-slab radiant heating systems have enjoyed popularity both here in the United States and abroad for
years. Now, with the availability of improved control systems and better understanding within the design and construction community, the same concept can be applied to radiant cooling as an energy-efficient and cost-effective solution.
