It is with great sadness that St. Louis ASHRAE announces the passing of Kirk Mescher. Kirk passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015.

Kirk was a licensed professional engineer and founding partner of CM Engineering, Inc., in Columbia, Missouri. Kirk is rightfully considered one of the leading geothermal experts in the country and has been a leader in design, development and installation of ultra-high efficiency heating and cooling systems. He was also the co-holder of Patent 5,496,397, USA, Application of desiccants to aluminum foil substrates.

Kirk authored the cover article of the October 2009 ASHRAE Journal, “One Pipe Geothermal Design—Simplified GCHP System”. He also co-authored “High Performance Schools” in the May 2007 issue of the ASHRAE Journal. In 2009, he received ASHRAE’s Distinguished Service Award and served as an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer for 2011-2014. Kirk also served on the ASHRAE Society Board of Directors from July 2012 – June 2015 as a Director-at-Large.
