Sessions Monitors are needed for Annual Conference on June 25-29, 2016. You can earn free conference registration for 4 hours of service ($395 value)!
ASHRAE Society is hosting their Annual Meeting in St. Louis this summer and we can use your help staffing the technical sessions. This is a great way to contribute and take advantage of the numerous educational and networking opportunities available. Sessions monitors will usually work in pairs to host specific meeting locations, assist with ushering guests, maintaining the schedule, and collecting the attendee feedback surveys. Here’s the schedule of when we need volunteer help:
- Sunday, June 26th / Morning and Afternoon shifts (8:00am-4:45pm)
- Monday, June 27th / Morning shifts only (8:00am-12:00pm)
- Tuesday, June 28th / Morning and Afternoon shifts (8:00am-4:45pm)
- Wednesday, June 29th / Morning shifts only (8:00am-12:30pm)
If interested please email Chris Pelton at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 314-560-9289. Specific monitor assignments to be coordinated later this spring.
NOTE: After March 15th we will begin accepting volunteers outside our local chapter and region, so please register soon to insure your free registration.
If you’ve already signed up, thank you for your support!
Every year ASHRAE asks its members to submit projects for the annual Technology Awards. These awards recognize both your and your client’s dedication to energy efficient, green design. Projects eligible for this award can fall under the following categories for new or existing buildings or retrocommissioning projects: Commercial Buildings, Institutional Buildings, Healthcare Facilities, Industrial & Process Facilities, Public Assembly, or Residential. There can be multiple winners in each category!
The submission deadline is March 4th, 2016. If you have any projects you think may qualify, just follow the instructions on the simple 2 page form and send it to Chad Adler, CTTC Chairman, at email@example.com.
The Technology Awards are a great way to recognize both your client’s and your own dedication to green design. Both the engineer of record and the client will receive plaques recognizing them for their dedication to energy efficiency. The plaques will be awarded at the Spring awards program where the engineer and client will also receive complimentary meals and the engineer will present his or her project.
If you have any questions or have projects you would like to nominate, please contact Chad Adler at 314.812.4537. More information regarding the Technology Awards can be found at www.ashrae.org/technologyawards.

Did you know that St. Louis ASHRAE has an Endowed Research Fund in honor of Presidential Member Bill Coad? This fund was created last year through the ASHRAE Foundation, which guarantees a set 5% annual return.
ASHRAE Foundation supports the needs of the HVAC&R industry. ASHRAE Foundation is an endowed trust that provides funding for professional development and research programs, supplies qualified engineering students with much needed scholarship assistance, and ensures that ASHRAE will continue to have sufficient resources to sustain and expand the Society’s vital work.
The creation of ASHRAE Foundation was in response to a valid need for increased funding for ASHRAE programs and projects. A solid proponent of education, the Foundation recognizes and accepts the challenge to provide the financial support necessary to offer tailored educational programming to ensure HVAC&R professionals are prepared today for tomorrow’s challenges.
If you would like to donate to the Bill Coad Fund, please donate directly at this link: http://www.ashrae.org/contribute. Under “Existing Fund Name”, type “Bill Coad – St. Louis”. Also, please be sure to include “054” and “St. Louis” as the ID # and Chapter, respectively.
It is with great sadness that St. Louis ASHRAE announces the passing of Kirk Mescher. Kirk passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015.
Kirk was a licensed professional engineer and founding partner of CM Engineering, Inc., in Columbia, Missouri. Kirk is rightfully considered one of the leading geothermal experts in the country and has been a leader in design, development and installation of ultra-high efficiency heating and cooling systems. He was also the co-holder of Patent 5,496,397, USA, Application of desiccants to aluminum foil substrates.
Kirk authored the cover article of the October 2009 ASHRAE Journal, “One Pipe Geothermal Design—Simplified GCHP System”. He also co-authored “High Performance Schools” in the May 2007 issue of the ASHRAE Journal. In 2009, he received ASHRAE’s Distinguished Service Award and served as an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer for 2011-2014. Kirk also served on the ASHRAE Society Board of Directors from July 2012 – June 2015 as a Director-at-Large.
